Just imagine – it’s Monday afternoon and you gaze out the window - grey clouds sweep across the towering buildings as the world races by. You pick up your phone and mindlessly scroll through Instagram. An image of a beautiful destination appears and you save it – inspiration for your next trip. ‘Maybe next year’, you think to yourself. Maybe when you find someone to travel with, maybe when you have more vacation days, maybe when you’re less busy at home. Your mind wanders again – it would be so nice to take some time for yourself, to learn and explore with eyes wide open, to do something different.
AMIIN Travel was born from my own similar experience – a much-needed reset, a longing to embark on an exploratory journey and a desire for continuous learning. This led to the curation of my own month-long solo journey across India and Sri Lanka to pursue things I had always wanted to do. And now, finally, a hope to bring this opportunity to others.
AMIIN was built on the belief that travel can be a catalyst for lifelong learning, growth and purpose.
- We believe that experience is truly the best teacher, and there is no better way to learn about the world than to immerse yourself in it with an open mind. Our journeys are curated to go far beyond leisure travel – to support learning in a way that cannot be replicated by any book or classroom.
- We believe that personal growth occurs from challenge and reflection. Experiential travel pushes you to get outside of your comfort zone and tailored journaling prompts at each stage of the journey support reflection on your personal growth and transformation.
- We believe in travel with purpose. We support local - prioritizing women-led and social impact-focused partners - and set aside a percentage of profit towards the AMIIN Impact Fund. This Fund will provide grants to impact-led organizations in the regions we travel to and grants for Canadian youth in financial need, so they too have the opportunity to pursue educational and experiential travel.
Now ask yourself - that thing you’ve always wanted to do – what is it? And most importantly, what’s stopping you? The epic hike, the language learning, the off-beat destination, the meditative retreat. The reality is that there will never be a ‘right’ time. It’s up to you to seize the opportunity, invest in yourself and do the things you’ve always dreamed of.
If you’re curious about the world, are open to new perspectives and are not afraid of trying something new – I invite you to follow along as we unveil our upcoming destinations.
Here’s to the journey,
-Ameena
